The showrooms Valdagno (VI) requires us to create a tile pattern for the bathroom of their clients with the collection of Dolce Vita Idea Ceramica, and another variant to our liking.

Plan

We created the first version of the environment as required by the customer to the floor with a 20x20 on the tone of the collection FIBRE beige, and the coating DOLCEVITA SAND / SAND MARCELLO CHAMPAGNE with the insert.
We have completed the simulation of posing with two rounds of boards made of glass, giving light to the value and the product itself.

For the second proposal we decided to use the products of WABI collection, in two versions both monochrome.
The composition makes use of full-tone and inserts Dew A and B achieved with the application of the third fire a shot pearly iridescent. With these inserts we have created a family of light that covers all the walls of the bathroom.
to the floor has been chosen to enter the LISBON CITY LINE 30x30 45x45 enriched by decoration. This pattern in addition to being extremely decorative effect, being cut and mounted on mesh also gives additional security for the slip.

Hi, I bought a studio apartment of 40 m², basement, recently renovated and furnished. I would like to make the apartment more light and give a greater impression of space. The walls are orange (and I would change them in white) and would like to better accommodate the furniture and especially the lighting. I state that I can not move the current division of the rooms. I look a your valuable advice.

Augustus - Rome

Dear Mr. Augusto

first thing I can say I found unanimous in its decision to repaint the walls in white currently orange: beyond the personal tastes in an area from the foregoing that color seems completely inappropriate to use the housing.

As for the arrangement of furniture and the lighting system must begin by saying that I would need additional information to complete a detailed picture of the situation: for example, the window size and orientation, as well as the internal height of the room are basic parameters (especially considering the fact that This is a basement apartment) for a minimally rigorous design approach.

So I take this opportunity to develop, since the data elements, a sort of design exercise in an attempt to define a methodological approach to the project, a basic tool to be used in applying their critical abilities and through creative a logical system.

First, as I mentioned, it should be an assessment of existing space and its relationship with the context: the orientation with respect to the axis gives us heliothermic a reading of the characteristics of light and its contribution, even heat to the interior, and the same goes for the location, size and height of windows above the ground, which will allow us to assess how to use the lighting, the choice of materials and surface finish how to arrange the furniture. The depth, width and height of the compartment will allow us to understand the perceptual parameters of the space providing basic guidelines for its reconfiguration.

defined (though, in this case, briefly) an analytical framework should dial the area of needs, habits and desires on the issue of living subjective. As you know the idea of home as well as that of the comforts of home décor or are located on the ridge that divides the shared culture of living, social psychological characteristics and historical experiences, memories and individual lifestyles: the common linguistic roots of living and dress (dressed as) clear easily the complexity of relations between the concepts of wellness, appropriateness (in terms of fitness but also in the sense of hearing their own) and living as an expression of self and social subjectivity.

should be noted that this phase is the time to deal with increased awareness, since it includes the wider issues as the most special, the most intimate and personal and interpersonal and social, so it needs a play deep and sincere: the first space project is, in a certain way, need to understand and configure your project to life, in other words is must first understand what but not how you want to live.

The next step sees us deal with the operational aspect of the course and to make a sort of guideline in the absence of the analytical parameters mentioned above, I will have to abstract the project from most of the actual contingencies and to confine to use the few items we have available.

The configuration space of the project is based on the acceptance of functions (feeding, hygiene, rest, etc.. Etc..) Already defined so that its layout remains unchanged is underlined by a system of sliding translucent panels Soji the format of a typical traditional Japanese house: their economy of design, natural wood, paper (which in our case poterebbe be replaced by a thin sheet of polycarbonate) and their design simple and repetitive but rigorous combine to give a strong directing and unifying character to the environment but also allow the space, like a big paper lantern, and a proper diffusion of natural light.

To maintain consistency formally assume the use of coating materials and simple, where you need it, decorate with a clear stylistic connotation (citing the Japanese graphics) for the floor tiles in colored gray cement paste in a 30x60 staggered laying, plastering a medium gray, for covering the kitchen in a 20x40 format biscuit glazed in a light color with a slight oriental decorations, always the bathroom floor tile ceramic inner gray cement in a 30x30 form a frame of a "carpet" central (also depending on slip) of strips on the network (also 30x30, cut jet) with filling in blue, while the walls are covered with tiles biscuit glazed in a bright blue (with a slightly textured surface) 20x40 laid horizontally to a height of m. 2.20.

As I said all the walls will be painted in white confound slightly to avoid pure white and the ceiling white, but always with a polish that will contribute to the reflectance and encaustic the spread of light.

The arrangement of the furniture will be slightly changed compared to the current situation: the table and the library will exchange the position and the storage wall is placed on the back wall of the accommodation to be a form vanishing point terminating strongly marked by the horizontal ports sliding.

The lighting is resolved with only one type of lighting fixture, a lamp very versatile, economical and durable that can be used by the table, floor, pendant, wall, etc. . thanks to a clever handle / hook / cable collector.

The ceramic product is the result of a very complex technical and creative process that can be evaluated at best only through a direct vision: a metal surface, the touch, but also the color characteristics and the quality of support are essential to arrive at an informed choice and satisfaction.

Finally I would like to add a tribute to Bruno Munari, a great creator and ninety years old teacher who died prematurely in 1998.

This is a short text on his "The rule and the case."

As the day and night

the rule and the case are two opposites

as light and darkness

such as red and green

as hot and cold

as the wet and dry

as male and women.

The rule gives security,

geometry helps us to know the structures

or to build a world in which

we can move without fear.

The case is the unforeseen

sometimes terrible

sometimes nice

meeting with a person

with which it is established immediately

a contract of sympathy or love,

the explosion of an idea solver

the discovery of a phenomenon.

Rule is the brainchild

is built with logic

all the necessary

with the rule you can plan a program.

The case stems from climate

environmental conditions, social

geographical, from sensory receptors.

A smell of eucalyptus

the shape of a stone

the rhythm of the waves ...

The rule by itself is monotonous

chance alone makes it restless.

Orientals say

Perfection is beautiful but stupid

must know it but break it.

The combination of rule and case

is life, is the art

is fantasy, is balance.
